School may be out for the summer, but at Possum Hall, theatre is definitely "in" for young people. Possum Point Players student age affiliate, Possum Juniors, just completed a successful production of "Bus Stop," and theatre camps are in session. On Friday, August 3, and Saturday, August 4, an ensembled-based group of young people present an experimental workshop, "Different Than Good."

"Different Than Good" workshop is a musical theatre showcase featuring songs from several contemporary musicals. Performances are at 8 p.m. in Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Highway. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The music and subject matter are intended for mature audiences.

In "Different Than Good," a group of young singers and dancers have come together with the intention providing an evening of cutting edge entertainment while striving to become a driving force in area theatrical innovation. Many of them are veterans of Possum Point Players' main stage productions as well as kids camps and Possum Juniors' productions. In "Different Than Good," college students home for the summer and area young people who aged beyond PJs have assembled a collection of songs and dance to satisfy their desire to perform and to provide an evening of unique entertainment for their audience.

Director Logan Lynch, who, along with his brother, Devon successfully pitched the idea to Possum Point Players, said, "Our performers have been tinkering with the limits of the modern American musical in hopes of discovering new possibilities, and we hope to hone our craft along the way. Our group of 14 young performers are enthusiastically tackling a series of different pieces from all kinds of musical theatre."

The cast that the Lynches have assembled come from communities that stretch from Dover to Salisbury, MD. Cast members are Lexie Waddy, Dover; Katie Beach, Salisbury; Devon Lynch, Abbey Ruark and Braeden Swain are from Georgetown; from Milford are Connor Hall and Missy Spangler. Also in the cast are Lauren McLane and Ellyse Baghouli of Lewes; Sava Cook, Seaford; Kerinne Walls, Ocean View; Eryk Bluto, Millsboro; Blair Williams, Long Neck; and Chris Jones, Laurel.

"Different Than Good" Workshop: A Musical Theatre Showcase is admission free, but a donation of $10 is suggested and any amount is appreciated. "Different Than Good" is for mature audiences, the subject matter includes strong language and sexual themes.

Possum Point Players is supported, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
