Virginia's Signature Theatre is happy to announce that the show will play for an added sixth week - an addition of eight performances between January 21 and January 26. BroadwayWorld has a first look below!

Tickets to the extension performances are now on sale and are available online at signature- theatre.org, by phone at 703 573 SEAT and in person at the Signature Box Office.

Directed by Signature Artistic Associate Joe Calarco (Shakespeare's R&J, God of Carnage, Urinetown), Gypsy stars Sherri L. Edelen (The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Company, Hairspray) as the iconic Momma Rose, in one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

The production plays in Signature's MAX Theatre beginning December 17.

Featuring a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy has been revived on Broadway four times since its original production in 1959. Inspired by the memoirs of famed burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee, the musical casts the spotlight on her mother Rose, one of the most notorious 'showbiz moms' ever.

"Gypsy marks Signature's 23rd Sondheim production, and it promises to be something special with Sherri Edelenbringing Momma Rose to life," said Signature Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. "Her talents are larger than life, just like Rose, and it will be thrilling to see her collaboration with Joe Calarco onstage."

Tickets now on sale for added performance of the award-winning musical starring Sherri L. Edelen

Set during the 1920s on the fading vaudeville circuit, Gypsy portrays the rise of famed performer Gypsy Rose Lee. Momma Rose, the archetypal stage mother, steamrolls everyone on her way to propel her daughters into child stars. When the younger, more talented daughter defects, Rose sinks all her hopes (and claws) into the elder.

Featuring the songs "Everything's Coming Up Roses," "Together (Wherever We Go)," "Small World," "Some People," "Let Me Entertain You," and "All I Need Is The Girl," Gypsy offers up a glittering world of song and dance for the whole family.
