The Shakespeare Theatre Company of Washington, DC has replaced its planned production of Luigi Pirandello's ENRICO IV with a production of Harold Pinter's OLD TIMES, dctheatrescene.com has reported. The production will run from May 17 to July 3 in 2011.
OLD TIMES will star Holly Twyford. Twyford has won four Helen Hayes Awards (for ROMEO AND JULIET, THE SHAPE OF THINGS, THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, and THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED) and has received nine additional nominations. Michael Kahn, artistic director of the Shakespeare Theatre Company, said, "I knew OLD TIMES was the play for [Twyford]," DC Theatre Scene reported. Kahn also stated, "I have wanted to produce this play for many years. I believe that Pinter's work belongs in a theatre devoted to the classics because of his brilliant use of language."
ENRICO IV was replaced because of the unavailability of Patrick Page, who was to play Enrico.
