On August 10th, NextStop Theatre Company will present a 70-minute concert and celebration of some of the most memorable musical moments of 25 Years of Elden Street Players (ESP) musicals at the Industrial Strength Theatre in Herndon.
Featuring ESP veterans John Loughney (Into the Woods, tick tick BOOM!), Jaclyn Young (Into the Woods, Metamorphoses, Midsummer), Matthew "Moose" Thompson (Tomfoolery), and Helen Hayes Award-winner Priscilla Cuellar (Into the Woods), the performance promises nostalgia for patrons who have visited the theatre throughout the years, and for newcomers: an impressive showcase of the decades-old theatre company's pedigree.
"Over the years, Elden Street Players astounded audiences with the ability to bring both intimate and enormous musical works to life in our unique 114 seat black-box theatre. This concert is a wonderful way to celebrate the end of our inaugural professional season, built upon the success of our beloved community theatre foundation", said Evan Hoffmann, NextStop's Producing Artistic Director.
"The Elden Street Musical Experience" is under the Music Direction of Elisa Altman Rosman, who is no stranger to the award-winning venue near Washington DC's Dulles Airport and the newly opened Wiehle-Reston Silver Line Metro Station; Rosman previously provided music direction for Into the Woods; Caroline, Or Change; Passion, Falsettos, Side Show, and Suburb at ESP/NextStop. Selections for the concert include songs from The Who's Tommy, Gypsy, Man of La Mancha, Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show, Sweet Charity, RENT, and many more.
The one night concert takes place during the penultimate weekend of NextStop's New Summer Cabaret Series, which has recently featured acclaimed Broadway actress and recording artist Karen Mason and Tony Award Nominee Sally Mayes; the series closes on August 17th with Grammy Nominee Jim Van Slyke's critically acclaimed "Sedaka Show".
