By a unanimous decision of the Board of Directors of Molotov Theatre Group, the positions of Co-Artistic Directors of DC's only Grand Guignol-based theatre company have been eliminated.

The decision of the board was carried by a unanimous vote of 6-0. Alex Zavistovich, Molotov's founder, previous Managing Director and previous Co-Artistic Director, abstained from the proceedings and deliberations related to this decision, pursuant to the bylaws of Molotov Theatre Group. The resolution framed by the Board terminates both Alex Zavistovich and Michael Wright as Molotov Co-Artistic Directors.

Molotov Theatre Group Board Chairman Josh Speerstra said that Board has identified inefficiencies in the current artistic management structure, and wants to be mindful of the typical resource constraints facing a small theatre company. "We want to focus on bringing fantastic shows to the public, such as our upcoming production of 'Normal' by Anthony Neilson, which opens March 6 at DCAC."

"The Board of Directors of Molotov Theatre Group is thankful for Alex Zavistovich's and Michael Wright's service as Co-Artistic Directors and we wish them well in their future endeavors," Speerstra added.

Founded in 2007, the 501(c)3 non-profit Molotov Theatre Group is dedicated to education, preservation and exploration in the aesthetic of the Grand Guignol, or French Theater of Horror.

Molotov Theatre Group applies the Grand Guignol ideals to contemporary and classic works. They also produce English translations of original Grand Guignol scripts to preserve and draw attention to this important, and essentially forgotten genre.
