McLean Community Players Present BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, Now thru 5/16

The McLean Community Players (MCP) present Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park this spring at McLean's Alden Theatre. Director Jerry Bonnes leads a talented cast and crew in this hilarious romantic comedy, one of the longest-running non-musical plays in Broadway history. It opens tonight, May 1 and runs weekends through May 16.

Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m. at the Alden Theatre in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, VA 22101.

Barefoot in the Park is about Corie and Paul, two newly-weds who move into a New York City apartment five flights up, with no elevator and plumbing problems. Besides having to cope with the dysfunctional apartment, they have to adjust to their own differences. Paul is a lawyer who is serious about his career, and Corie is a free spirit who wants Paul to be more spontaneous, for example, by running "barefoot in the park." Matters are complicated further by a surprise visit from Corie's mother.

Director Jerry Bonnes says, "Opposites attract but the real drama occurs when they collide. Neil Simon's hilarious Barefoot in the Park takes us on a romp to find out whether the final result is disaster or harmony.
