Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) Annual Retro Prom is returning for the eight straight year.  The annual fundraiser for the Frederick non-profit theatre company will see some exciting new additions this year .  The changes include catering by a collection of some of Frederick's favorite eateries, a new master of ceremonies direct from Hollywood, new VIP table options and even lower ticket prices!

The Prom which will feature the musical stylings of The Spin Doctor, dancing, door prizes, a silent auction, prom photos, a cash bar and an 11pm pizza party will be held on March 10th from 7:00-11:30pm at the William R. Talley Recreation Center (121 N. Bentz St. Frederick).  Tickets or tables may be purchased online at marylandensemble.org, by phone at (301) 694-4744or in person at the MET box office.  All tickets are $40 at the door or two tickets can be purchased in advance for $70.  Tables for four to eight people ($200-$400) are also available to be reserved in advance and include a sign with the party's name, a complimentary bottle of champagne and two drinks per person.

For the first time appetizers and desserts (in lieu of dinner) will be catered by local restaurants including Bryan Voltaggio's Lunchbox, Canal Bar and Grill, The Greene Turtle, Sister's Bake Shop, Griffs Landing, Beans & Bagels, Cacique, Acacia, Brewers Alley, Isabellas and more of Frederick's favorites are being added daily.  Each of the eateries is donating their services to the non-profit and will undoubtedly contribute to what will be a festive evening.  Last call on the culinary adventurous evening will be 50 pizzas delivered by Pizza Unos at 11:00pm.  Maryland Ensemble Theatre will also be recommending restaurants offering pre-prom dinner prix fixe meals at marylandensemble.org.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre is thrilled to announce Sam Pancake will be serving as Master of Ceremonies.  Actor and comedian Sam Pancake has been slogging away in the trenches of show business for roughly 20 years and has had guest appearances in many notable TV shows, including Arrested Development, Pushing Daisies, The West Wing, NYPD Blue, Will & Grace and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has also been in popular movies, such as Legally Blonde 2 and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. Sam is honored to be hosting Retro Prom, "Since my own senior prom ended with my date vomiting shrimp almondine and Boone's Farm all over my mother's Chevrolet, I am hoping for some retribution by hosting Retro Prom! Hey--who's gonna be my date anyway? Any offers? I prefer a wrist corsage." Pancake came to MC the event through MET Artistic Director, Tad Janes and Assistant Artistic Director Gene Fouche, whom he has known since attending West Virginia University together. The night before the Prom, on March 9th at 9pm at MET (31 W Patrick St.) Sam will be performing a new on man show at MET entitled Pancake on PancakePancake on Pancake will take the audience on a laugh-filled romp through the highs and lows of being a working stiff in (not-always-so) glamorous Hollywood, from Pancake's childhood in rurAl West Virginia to working with the likes of Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney with a crammed suitcase of war stories, anecdotes and gossip (some too juicy to be uttered in LA!) along the way.

With all the new attractions added to this years fundraiser the MET hasn't forgot what has made the Prom a terrific event for the past seven years.  The Spin Doctor, Prom's resident DJ is returning to provide the music for the evening that includes all night dancing, door prizes, a cash bar and a silent auction featuring items small and large including tickets to Jon Stewart's Daily Show, hotel rooms, restaurant gift certificates, vacation getaways, and much more.  As always Prom attire form any decade is encouraged but not required.

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs.  The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
