Maestro Lorin Maazel and his wife, Dietlinde Turban-Maazel will inaugurate a new, annual music festival on their 550-acre property in Castleton, Virginia in July 2009. To help launch the fundraising campaign for the Castleton Festival, the Oscar/Tony/Grammy/Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch and Maestro Maazel will participate in a benefit concert at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Money raised from the concert will support the first Castleton Festival (July 4- 19, 2009). The festival will feature fully staged operas, concerts, recitals, workshops and informal performance activities. And, it is also designed to be a nurturing ground for young professional artists and advanced students, who will live and work together over a month-long period, primarily at the Castleton Farms property.
"An Evening with
Marvin Hamlisch" will feature Mr. Hamlisch at the piano in an evening of Broadway classics, including some of his own most enduring hits.
Maestro Maazel will be the featured guest, playing Gershwin and conducting the entire ensemble in a finale.
The concert will take place at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and are available from the Kennedy Center Box Office, by phone: at 202-467-4600 or at

Marvin Hamlisch" start at $250, including premium concert seating and a reception immediately following with the artists in the Kennedy Center Atrium. To reserve benefit tickets, please contact Amy Dickstein at The Webster Group, 202-237-0090 ext. 26 or amy@websterconsulting.com.
