The Marriage of Figaro Washington National Opera
Michelle Pendoley
(202) 295-2468
The Figaro story continues in what is often considered Mozart's most perfect opera. After his marriage to Rosina, now the Countess Almaviva, the Count's palace is filled with a tangled web of love affairs. The pageboy Cherubino courts the Countess while the Count pursues the maidservant Susanna who is betrothed to the wily Figaro. With a nearly flawless blend of music and theatricality, The Marriage of Figaro is conducted by Patrick Fournillier and set in a gorgeous production originally conceived by Göran Jarvefelt and directed by Harry Silverstein. Sung in Italian with English supertitles. Through May 7. Note: Supertitles may not be visible from the rear of the orchestra. This performance is audio described.
