Kennedy Center Awards Fey Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, 11/9

Writer, actress and comedian Tina Fey will be awarded the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in a ceremony at the Kennedy Center on November 9. The ceremony will air on PBS on November 14.

Past recipients of the Kennedy Center honor include Steve Martin (who will be in attendance at this year's event), Richard Pryor, Carl Reiner, Lily Tomlin, Bob Newhart, Lorne Michaels, Neil Simon and Whoopi Goldberg. The Hollywood Reporter and the Associated Press report that Betty White and SNL castmates Jimmy Fallon, Fred Armisen, Seth Myers and creator, Michaels will present Fey with the award.

Fey was promoted to head writer of 'SNL' in 1999 and was featured on the show until 2006, when she left to create the wildly successful television show '30 Rock,' satirizing her experiences at SNL. Most recently, Fey was feted for her comic portrayal of former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin. Fey has been the recipient of seven Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, four Writers Guild of America Awards and in 2008, the Associated Press named her Entertainer of the Year.
