Jeffrey Johnson/Special Agent Galactica Has Farewell Show Image

Long time DC actor/director/artistic director/singer, Jeffrey Johnson, prepares to leave the DC Metro area after calling it home for 22 years. Jeffrey has worked on such stages as Signature Theatre, Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Studio Theatre, Source Theatre, The Kennedy Center Opera House. He has represented DC's LGBT community around the country on such stages as the historic The Stonewall Inn, Feinstein's/54 Below, Joe's Pub at The Public Theatre, Don't Tell Mama's, The Duplex, and the Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC; The RRazz Room in San Francisco and New Hope; and Show at Barre in LA, as well as others. He brought LGBT legends, Karen Black (Academy Award nominee and 2 time Golden Globe winner), Holly Woodlawn (Andy Warhol Transgender Superstar), Justin Vivian Bond (world acclaimed transgender singer and Tony nominee), Out Lady J (acclaimed cabaret singer and screenwriter for Transgender), Charles Busch (Tony nominated playwright), Julie Halston (Outer Critics Circle award winner and Drama Desk award nominee), and Del Shores (screenwriter Queer as Folk, Sordid Lives) to the DC area to perform specially created shows for the DC community. In addition, he ran the theatre/arts company, Ganymede Arts, from 2003-2011 the only theatre/arts company at that time bringing the voice of the LGBT experience to the DC Metro area. During that time he created the Ganymede Arts LGBT Fall Arts Festival, a yearly 10-day festival that featured both local and national LGBT artists from all genres.

During his time at Ganymede Arts he created the sci-fi-cabaret-singing sensation, Special Agent Galactica, an assassin of the multiverse, traveling both space and time. For the first 8 years of Galactica's life she was known as a "theatrical lip-sync phenomenon", bringing an uncanny knack for spot on lip-sync performances by incorporating both song and spoken word into her unique one "woman" shows. Her "Irrelevant Acts of Entertainment" at the 2010 Capital Fringe Festival was one of the top attended shows that year. In the last 10 years of her existence, Galactica has morphed into a live singing experience. From 2011-2013 she hosted an extremely successful Happy Hour Jazz Variety Show every other Friday at the now defunct Black Fox Lounge in Dupont Circle. During that time she also fronted her own Rock and Roll band and played at various venues around town. In 2013 she joined forces with classical/jazz guitarist, Peter Fields, and together they have been performing shows in DC and NYC as Special Agent Galactica and Captain Satellite. Together, they invited Fred Schneider, frontman for the MTV Music Video award winning/Gammy nominated new wave band, The B-52's, to be a part of their 2016 Capital Fringe sleeper hit, "A Romp Around Uranus".

The "Farewell Show" will spotlight both fan and performer's favorites from this time period and feature the Happy Hour Jazz Band, Peter Fields, and the vocal talents of Fred Schneider. This show will consist of three sets.

THE FIRST SET - THE BEST OF THE HAPPY HOUR SHOW. This set will feature the Happy Hour Jazz Trio lead by Aaron Meyers at keyboards, Ethan Foote on Bass, and Winston Johnson on drums as well as a couple lip sync gems!

THE SECOND SET - A ROMP AROUND URANUS (truncated version) This set features Galactica, Captain Satellite and the Timeship Aurora (voiced by The B-52's frontman, Fred Schneider) performing their show via bio-hologram from ground zero of a multi-galactic war in an entirely different universe!

THE THIRD SET - WOULD'VE BEEN, MIGHT'VE BEEN, AND OTHER STUFF - This set features Jeffrey, Peter Fields (aka Captain Satellite), Aaron, Ethan, and Winston grooving to some songs that would have been in Galactica shows, some songs that might have been in Galactica shows, some songs that were part of Galactica's repertoire but didn't fit into the first two sets, as well as some favorites of Jeffrey's.

The show is being performed at Dangerous Pies DC on Sunday, December 9th at 5:30PM-9PM. Admission is pay-what-you-can at the door.
