Entertainment industry veteran, Jamie Foster Brown brings her trademark sass, innate intelligence, sensitivity and well-honed sense of humor to the stage to star in a one-night-only presentation of the Obie Award-winning performance piece, The Vagina Monologues at Washington, D.C.'s historic Lincoln Theatre, 1215 U Street, NW, between 12th and 13th Streets, on Saturday, February 24 at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets are $25, $50, $75 and $100 and go on sale Thursday, February 22.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.VdayLADC.com, or by telephone at 888-695-0888. Proceeds from "The Vagina Monologues" will benefit The Rebecca Project, a safehouse for women victims of domestic violence and substance abuse.

Known as one of the most recognized names in urban entertainment and magazine publishing, Jamie, hot off the January launch of "What's Up With Jamie Foster Brown," a fast-breaking entertainment and urban fashion news feature serving as the centerpiece of the 2007 programming lineup on PoPNetworks' Urban Life Television (ULTV), steps further into the entertainment  spotlight with this performance alongside actor Vanessa Bell Calloway, comedienne and actor Phyllis Yvonne Stickney, author Zane, journalist Rolanda Watts, radio personality Jeannie Jones, vocalist Tanya Blount and Omarosa of The Apprentice fame.

"I am pleased to be a part of such a monumental work and to have the opportunity to work with some of the women I've interviewed over the years and consider friends," states Jamie. "It is really exciting to be performing right here in my home town as well," she adds.

Jamie's participation in this performance is an extension of her attention to and support of women and women's issues.  Her open moral outrage over the excessive violence and misogyny in gangsta rap lyrics and its negative influence on young people was the catalyst that began the dialogue between members of the African-American leadership and music industry moguls.  When she authored Betty Shabazz: A Sisterfriends' Tribute in Words and Pictures, published by Simon & Schuster, her influence allowed her to bring together some of America's most prominent women, including Dr. Maya Angelou, Gloria Steinem, Myrlie Evers-Williams and Dr. Dorothy Height, to provide very personal essays commemorating the life and accomplishments of Dr. Shabazz, the late widow of Malcolm X.

Jamie's casting in this Washington, D.C. performance of The Vagina Monologues comes close to marking a one decade milestone in her career.  In 1998 the mayor of Washington, D.C. issued a proclamation officially naming August 18th "Jamie Foster Brown Day" in the nation's capital.

Jamie began her stellar career in entertainment when she joined BET president and founder Robert Johnson in 1981. Along with a talented team of broadcast professionals, Jamie played a critical role in the development of programming targeting African-American viewers, such as BET's flagship programs "Video LP" and "Video Soul." When she decided to strike out on her own, Jamie founded a behind-the-scenes-focused, entertainment industry trade newsletter that she named Sister 2 Sister. Within 10 years, the newsletter evolved into one of the most respected monthly magazines in the constellation of urban-oriented entertainment media. Newsweek magazine, lauding Jamie's influence, listed her among the nation's top "buzzmakers," along with such notables as talk show host Oprah Winfrey.  SISTER 2 SISTER magazine now boasts a readership of over 1.2 million.

As an extension of her magazine, Jamie founded the celebrity-driven, syndicated radio show, "The Sister 2 Sister Celebrity Update," which aired on 46 U.S. stations and the BBC in London, and reached over a million listeners.  In the course of her career Jamie has interviewed a diverse cadre of celebrities including Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, T.I., Snoop Dogg, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Oprah, DMX, Lil' Kim, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, Bow Wow, Lil' Wayne, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Kanye West, Fantasia, Tyra Banks and Ciara, showcasing her ability to cover subjects with a sense of individuality, intimacy and a professionalism often lacking in entertainment journalism.

Brown has appeared on such notable national television outlets as CNN, BET, CBS's 48 Hours, and Entertainment Tonight.  She has received honors at the Midwest Radio & Music Association for her lifelong commitment to enriching the lives of others. The Support Network also honored Jamie for her contribution in educating young people through her magazine and radio show. Brown is listed in the Congressional Record, has received the Anheuser-Busch Eagle Award, the National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment (NABFEME) Sheroes Award and the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award for Outstanding African-American Women in the 90s.
