Imagination Stage's teen performance ensemble will perform The Addams Family, the musical comedy, this weekend, January 9-11, 2015, on The Lerner Family Theatre stage. The Addams Family features an original story by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa.

The Addams Family runs in Imagination Stage's The Annette M. and Theodore N. Lerner Family Theatre January 9-10, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. and January 11, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person, and may be purchased online at www.imaginationstage.org, at the Imagination Stage box office, or via phone at 301-280-1660.

"The Addams Family can simply be boiled down to a fun, entertaining musical with song and dance included...mainly for the sake of having song and dance," jokes Nikki Kaplan, Director of The Addams Family and Associate Director of Education at Imagination Stage. "But upon digging a little deeper, it's also a show about accepting the good (and kooky!) in yourself and others, and finding love in strange and unpredictable places."

Comprised of over 30 students from across the DC metro area, ranging from grades 6-12, the IStage Performance Ensemble is an audition-based program giving young artists the opportunity to bring a production from page-to-stage in a single semester. The ensemble rehearses two days per week for several hours at a time. The directorial staff has a vested interest in getting to know each student personally, and in turn holds high expectations for every performer. This opportunity allows them to apply their technical skills in a performance environment.

Directed by Nikki Kaplan, The Addams Family is designed by an entire team of professional designers, including Dustin Merrill (Music Director); Celestine Ranney-Howes (Costume Designer); Kristin A. Thompson (Lighting Designer); Amelia Nickles (Choreographer); Suzanne Emmerson (Props Designers); and Collin Ranney (Set Coordinator). It will be performed on the same set Milagros Ponce de Leon created for Imagination Stage's professional production 101 Dalmatians which runs through January 11, 2015.

The Addams Family features an original story, and it's every father's nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from...Ohio! Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner to meet the parents - where "normal" and kooky collide in this hilarious new musical!
