The Highwood Theatre is taking off with the hilarious comedy BOEING BOEING, continuing its 2016-2017 season: January 27, 28 & February 3, 4 at 8:00 pm; January 29 & February 5 at 2:00 pm at The Highwood Theatre in Downtown Silver Spring.

Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts and return your seat to a full, upright position, as The Highwood Theatre prepares to take off with a high-soaring production of Boeing Boeing! Written by Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverley Cross and Frances Evans, the classic French farce is not only the company's first show of 2017, it is also the first professional production to be performed in The Highwood Theatre's brand new, expanded black box theatre in downtown Silver Spring.

A delightful blend of Commedia dell'Arte slapstick with quintessential television sitcom cover-ups and double entendres, Boeing Boeing follows the seemingly perfect life of carefree bachelor Bernard, a wealthy American businessman living in Paris. Bernard seems to have it all: a luxurious Parisian flat, a hard-working (and often wisecracking) maid, and three gorgeous fiancées - all air hostesses and all blissfully unaware of the others' existence. But when Bernard's carefully crafted schedule of layovers begins unraveling due to faster Boeing jets, he and his naive, bumbling friend Robert must navigate his fiancees' arrivals and evade disaster.

This quick-witted and clever comedy is more than just a door-slamming farce. It also satirizes traditional gender roles and delivers thought-provoking commentary on relationships and monogamy. Director Sarah Scott explains, "This play presents an incredible number of layers, which you don't always encounter in comedy. It undoubtedly plays up certain stereotypes, but as the story unfolds you realize that the characters who actually hold all the power are not the ones you expected. It was a very forward-thinking production for the mid-Twentieth century, and I believe that is what makes it still so engaging and accessible for today's audiences." Boeing Boeing's lasting appeal earned it the record for longest running comedy in London's West End in 1969 and as the most producEd French play in the world in 1991.

Boeing Boeing features the talents of Sheila Blanc (Berthe), David Johnson (Bernard), LOUIS LAVOIE (Robert), Nina Marti (Gabriella), Moriah Whiteman (Gretchen), and Ashley Zielinski (Gloria). Directed by Sarah Scott; Stage Managed by Madison Middleton; Set and Lighting Design by Kevin Kearney; Sound Design by Toly Yarup; Prop Design by Jason Reid; Costume Design by Tip Letsche. Boeing Boeing is part of Highwood's 2016-2017 Mainstage Season and is the season's second production by their Your Theatre division, which is dedicated to producing high-quality professional theatre productions with mixed teams of talented adult and student actors.

The Highwood Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the community together through theatre. Now in its 14th Season, Highwood's guiding principle is "anyone can do theatre."
