Your Theatre, a division of The Highwood Theatre presents its debut production, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, featuring a mixed cast of student and professional actors. The rock musical, written by Michael Friedman and Alex Timbers, takes an energetic look at America's first political maverick and rock star, Andrew Jackson.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson features a cast of ten professional adult actors and five student actors. The production is directed by Kevin Kearney, Highwood's Executive Director, and two student co-directors - Dylan Kaufman (an 8th grader at Takoma Park Middle School) and Leora Cherry (a 10th grader at School for Tomorrow in Rockville). Musical direction is by Donna Zdan.

Highwood's season of productions is designed to bring the community together through theatre by breaking down divisions of age, training, and experience. We believe that everyone deserves the challenge, support, creative opportunities, and self-development that a theatre experience provides. Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson begins our journey of welcoming all into the creative process of theatre and allowing collaboration and growth to occur among artists of all ages and experience.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson features Zachary Roberts (Andrew Jackson), Katie Ganem (Rachel Jackson), Rachael Murray (Storyteller), Mikey Cafarelli (Bandleader, John Quincy Adams), Yoni Gray (John Calhoun, Black Fox), James Raymond (Martin Van Buren), Jen Bevan (Henry Clay, Ensemble), Phil Vannoorbeeck (James Monroe, Ensemble), Kathleen Mason (Soloist, Ensemble), Paige Taylor (Elizabeth Jackson, Ensemble), Madison Middleton (Soloist, Ensemble), Kevin Dolan (Ensemble), Leora Cherry (Ensemble), Dylan Kaufman (Ensemble). The production stage manager is David Engoron, with costume and prop design by James Raymond, and set, lighting, and sound design by students in technical theatre programs at The Highwood Theatre.

The Highwood Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the community together through theatre. Now in its 11th Season, Highwood's guiding principle is "anyone can do theatre." Highwood was founded in 2004 and began executing its mission through seasons of professional-quality theatre featuring all-student casts, design teams, and production staff. In 2013, in conjunction with its relocation to the heart of downtown Silver Spring, The Highwood Theatre expanded to more fully carry out its mission and develop innovative, engaging programming for artists of any age through professional and student productions, classes, and school and Home School programs.

The Highwood Theatre is creating a theatre hub in downtown Silver Spring made up of artists of all ages, regardless of past experience or training. Through productions and programs that combine both professional theatre artists and students - along with opportunities for development and training in all aspects of theatre - we hope to bring the community together and foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and inspired to collaborate, share, appreciate, and create. Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is part of Highwood's 2013-2014 Mainstage Season, and the debut production of Your Theatre at Highwood. Your Theatre is dedicated to producing high-quality professional theatre productions with mixed casts of talented adult and student actors.
