Halcyon's bold new performance series jetés into May in the afterglow of sold-out Halcyon Stage shows and events, highlighting a wealth of creativity across genres. Halcyon Stage has definitely arrived, but this season still has much to offer, with BalletX and Union Market taking center stage this weekend.

Saturday, May 13, is a ballet in a warehouse set to iconic Amy Winehouse songs, titled HALCYON STAGE @ Dock 5: BalletX. This contemporary ballet company is making their Washington, DC debut with a pair of breathtaking dance programs: Trey McIntyre's Big Ones, choreographed to the music of Amy Winehouse, and Matthew Neenan's The Last Glass, featuring a score by indie rock band Beirut.

BalletX is Philadelphia's premier contemporary ballet, founded in 2005 and dedicated to forging new works of athleticism, emotion and grace, a mission wholly aligned with Halcyon's mission and devotion to the power of human creativity.

Performing on a stage erected in The Warehouse space of Dock 5, this Halcyon Stage event will also include an al fresco party patio on which to enjoy purchased food and drink.

Next up is Halcyon Stage Pop-Up @ Union Market: Explosive Ballet & Beirut, on Sunday, May 14 at noon. This event is part of a series of free pop-up concerts designed to allow audiences to find beauty in unexpected places, infusing Union Market and its surroundings with an artistic spirit and filling it with a sense of community. BalletX will perform a series of short pop-up dance performances throughout the Union Market campus over a two-hour period. While free, registration is required.

Celebrating artistic experimentation and change, Halcyon Stage offers a fusion of innovative performances, transformative conversations, and experiences that push past traditional boundaries and limitations
