Guillotine Theatre Presents LYSISTRATA IN JERUSALEM As Part Of SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day ImageLysistrata in Jerusalem is a new play by Jean R. Freedman with additions and emendations by Abeer Shehadeh.

In Lysistrata in Jerusalem Jean R. Freedman has updated Aristophanes' classic comedy in which women from warring city-states band together and refuse to have sex with their men until a peace treaty is signed. Lysistrata in Jerusalem brings this strategy to the contemporary Middle East, creating a world in which Israeli and Palestinian women seek to end the conflict by taking matters into their own hands.

Admission is free, and the reading is open to the Public

Lysistrata in Jerusalem is presented as part of the eleventh annual SWAN Day.

SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day is an international holiday designed to showcase the power and diversity of women's creativity. WomenArts.org founded SWAN Day in 2008, and Guillotine Theatre loved the idea, and created the first DC SWAN Day the same year.
