Since opening, the critics have been praising Folger's production of Henry V. The Washington Post called it "the most stirring version of a Shakespeare history play the city has seen in a decade." The Washingtonian declared the show, "deeply moving...outstanding," while MD Theatre Guide proclaimed, "If there is one show that you will see in 2013, Folger's Henry V must be that show...a stroke of theatrical genius."
Henry V tells the story of a young king seeking to reunite his strife-torn kingdom by launching a campaign to seize the throne of France. After his invasion's initial success, the king finds himself facing a vastly superior French force on the fields of Agincourt - and with it, the ultimate test of his leadership.Facing factious lords and civil turmoil, Henry learns what it is to be the king and realizes perhaps the most stunning victory of all -- the capacity of the human spirit to overcome any obstacle.
