There are just two days remaining until the opening of Sheila Callaghan's "Crumble (Lay Me Down, Justin Timberlake" at the Firehouse Theatre this Thursday.

There is something special happening around this production. We have an extremely talented cast and crew and, to a person, everyone agrees that they have never been a part of a show like this. From the uniqueness of the script to the depth of the set and lighting design to the emotional investment of the cast, Crumble is going to be an unforgettable play.

Crumble opens on Thursday, Feb. 25, with a reception catered by Carytown Cupcakes.

Blurring the lines between mother and those needing mothering, award-winning playwright Sheila Callaghan tells the story of 11-year old Janice, whose father has recently died, and her devastated mom, who trusts in superior baking skills as the key to healing.

The play runs Feb. 25-March 20, with shows at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. Two "pay-what-you-will" performances are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, and Sunday, March 14. Tickets are $25 each for adults, $22 for seniors 65 and older, and $10 for students and RAPT members with ID.

Tickets are available at www.firehousetheatre.org or by calling 804-355-2001. Half-season subscription and group discounts are available.

Directed by long-time Firehouse associate Bill Patton, Crumble features Christina Billew, Frank Creasy, Matt Hackman, Lisa Kotula, and Jen Meharg.

This Firehouse production is a proud part of the Acts of Faith Festival and Minds Wide Open.

Following are special events scheduled so far around this performance:

- Opening night on Thursday, Feb. 25, will be catered by Carytown Cupcakes.
- Talk-backs involving Acts of Faith and Richmond SCAN are scheduled for immediately following performances on Friday, Feb. 26, and Sunday, March 14.
- Paintings by artist Terrie Powers will be displayed in the theatre throughout the production.

Here is a sample of critics' raves about previous productions of Crumble:

"Soon-to-be classic... whatever you do, don't miss it... amazing..." - Entertainment Today

"Small, dark, and gratifyingly odd." - Washington City Paper

"Moments of nail-biting anguish... weirdly satisfying... Callaghan's writing is studded with startling descriptive passages." - Chicago Tribune (Top 10 "fringe" shows of '05)
