Crabgrass Puppet Theatre of Vermont will bring their newest show,"Haiku, HipHop and Hotdogs," to the Alden Theatre for a single performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28. Tickets are $15, $10 for McLean tax district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
Blending the best of poetry and puppet theater, "Haiku, HipHop and Hotdogs," includes poems by Jack Prelutsky, David McCord, CaleF Brown and Beatrice Schenk de Regniers, among others. The poems in performance range from wacky hilarity to magical whimsy and the show ends with a rousing musical finale.
Crabgrass co-founder Bonny Hall says of the show, "Puppetry is a terrific medium to arouse a child's interest in poetry. The best poetry has the power to create pictures in our heads, to make us feel emotion, to make us laugh and cry. It's a small step from watching puppeteers bring a poem to life to wanting to read that poem, and then wanting to read more, and more and more." David Regan joins award-winning Crabgrass Puppet Theatre founders Hall and Jamie Keithline in this exciting production. The show is appropriate for children age 4 and older.
