Performances run March 4–19, 2023 in the Family Theater.
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere commissioned musical The Mortification of Fovea Munson. Mary Winn Heider brings her uproarious book to musical life with music and lyrics by Justin Huertas; music direction, arrangements, and orchestrations by Steven Tran; choreography by Ashleigh King; and direction by M. Graham Smith in this laugh out loud adventure.
The musical follows Fovea Munson, who is stuck working at her parents' cadaver lab now that her summer camp plans have fallen through. But she is by no means Dr. Frankenstein's snuffling assistant, Igor! That is, until three disembodied heads, left to thaw in the wet lab, start talking. To her. Out loud. What seems like a nightmare, or bizarre hallucination, is not. Fovea is somebody's Igor, all right. Three somebodies, actually. And they need a favor.
The Mortification of Fovea Munson stars Regina Aquino as Mom/Grandma Van; Dylan Arredondo as Dad/McMullen/Mr. Peters; Jonathan Atkinson as Andy/Inko/Kid 1; Christopher Michael Richardson as Howe; Michael Mainwaring as Lake/Frog/Zombie/Kid 2/Delivery Person; Justine "Icy" Moral as Fovea; and Farrell Parker as Emmy/Whitney/Inspector.
"I wrote about singing cadaver lab specimens-and now I actually get to see them sing!" said Mary Winn Heider. "It has been a dream watching this incredible team bring the book to life on stage."
The full creative team includes Dramaturgy by Ely Sonny Orquiza, Scenic Design by Arnel Sancianco, Costume Design by Erik Teague, Lighting Design by Lee Fiskness, Sound Design by Cresent Haynes, Puppet Coach by Matt Reckeweg, Props by Jason Dearing, and Casting by Jorge Acevedo. Julia Singer is the Production Stage Manager, Genevieve Dornemann is the Assistant Stage Manager, and Acadia Berrengos and Kelly Colburn are the Assistant Directors.
Tickets for the production are currently on sale via the Kennedy Center website, at the box office, or by calling 202-467-4600.
