Harlot Productions, helmed by director/choreographer Kristen Brooks Sandler, will premiere the new dance musical Gilded at the Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC for 5 performances between July 14th and July 28th.
Gilded will star Colin Scott Cahill as HIM, Courtney Liu as the Queen, Vincent Kempski as the King, Morgana Mauney as the Rook and Neville Braithwaite as the Knight.
The ensemble includes Lauren Tanner, Sarah Buscaino, Lizzie Markson, Sharlane Conner, Samantha Lawton, Brian Lawton, Lucas Melfi, Yamil DeJesus, and Yochai Greenfeld. Featuring musical arrangements by Anessa Marie and costumes by Yamil DeJesus, this show takes the audience on an emotional journey through a dark fairytale full of twists and turns.
Kristen Brooks Sandler's imaginative storytelling combines the language of dance with gilded age tunes to tell of a steampunk, dystopian kingdom on the brink of collapse. In discussing the inspiration behind this juggernaut show, Ms. Sandler explains that the principal characters are modeled after chess pieces, both in movement and emotional capabilities. "We watch as the main pieces, surrounded by an ensemble of Pawns, navigate a game of turmoil, temptation, love and power."
