SPOTLIGHTERS Birthday Tribute to Founder Audrey Herman
Members of the Baltimore theatre community are invited to a birthday party tribute to the legendary late Audrey Herman, founder of Spotlighters Theatre. The party to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, October 29 at 7PM at the theatre on St. Paul. Spotlighters invites you to "Come share your memories of Audrey Herman and SPOTLIGHTERS Theatre! We would love to create an Audrey Storybook filled with anecdotes from the early years of the theatre, and Audrey's passion for theatre." Lite fare and, of course, birthday cake will be served. This event is free, but you must RSVP by Thursday, October 26th at info@Spotlighters.org or by calling 410-752-1225.

NEW THIS WEEK: RepStage, CenterStage, and Broadway Across America at the Hippodrome
RepStage presents the Tony-nominated musical,
Tintypes, at its Howard Community College venue in the new Black Box Theatre beginning
October 27 – November 19, 2006. Show times are Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 2:30pm and 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm and 7:30pm. Tickets may be purchased by calling the box office at 410-772-4900 or on-line at www.repstage.org. Ticket prices are Fridays $22, Saturday matinees $16, Saturday evenings $24, Sunday matinees $20 and Sunday evenings $18. Tickets for students are $12 for any performance. Special group rates are available for groups of 6 or more. There is a free opening night reception with the cast and production team following the October 27 performance, and a post-show discussion following the Friday, November 3 performance. Directed and choreographed by Carole Graham Lehan, the production features the talents of Kate Briante (Toby's Footloose), Shannon Wollman (Vagabonds' Drood), Evan Casey (Signature's Urinetown), and Gary Hiel (Blood Brothers). (Review to be posted 10/28/2006)Â
CenterStage will be presenting the Tony-Award winning thriller, Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman at its Pearlstone Theatre in their Mount Vernon complex from October 26 - November 26. Tickets range in price from $10 -$60, with "Pay Your Age Previews" October 26 – October 31. Patrons 35 and under pay just $1 per year of their age for any available seat for those performances only. The play, directed by Lillian Groag, features Stephen Rowe, Mhari Sandoval and Triney Sandoval. Broadway Across America at the Hippodrome Theatre brings the First National Tour of Twelve Angry Men to Baltimore for two weeks only, October 24 – November 5. The tour based on the award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company production, features Richard Thomas (The Waltons, Democracy) and George Wendt (Cheers, Art). Showtimes are Tues – Sat at 8PM, Sat at 2PM and Sun at 1PM and 6:30PM. See the October Charm City Calendar for more information.

This first of a two-part epic play about AIDS in America is a major award winner, both onstage (both parts won the Tony for Best Play) and on television (it won MANY Emmy Awards a few years ago). And now, Baltimore's very own Spotlighters Theatre is presenting Angels in America: The Millennium Approaches through Sunday, November 11th. And boy, is it a winner! Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8PM, Sunday at 2PM.
