The Area Premiere of Hubert Henry Davies' Captain Drew on Leave, July 10th - August 9th, 2009.

It is Summer 1905, and Captain Drew finds himself on leave from the Royal Navy, looking for a bit of romantic adventure. He lands in a totally unexpected situation after meeting Martha Moxon, wife of a local industrialist. Hubert Henry Davies, creator of Quotidian's Spring 2008 success The Mollusc, applied his same gentle, hilarious touch to this romantic comedy that will also touch your heart.

In April 2008, QTC took a chance on staging a play that had not been produced in the D.C. area for a century. We were rewarded by a wonderful audience response as well as critical acclaim.

The Mollusc is easily the most famous work in Davies' canon, yet the remainder of his efforts are hardly deserving of the sad fate they have received. Captain Drew on Leave, written two years before The Mollusc, combines the same gentle comedic style with a bittersweet romantic thread, resulting in a unique tale of interesting, vibrant people audiences will care about. We are fortunate to have the following actors to bring these characters to life: Dan Corey, David Dubov, Robert Herbertson, Steve LaRocque, Stephanie Mumford, and Dani Nolan.

Performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., with an added Matinee on Saturday, August 8th at 2 p.m. Tickets: $20. ($5. Discount for Seniors/Students)

RESERVATIONS/INFO: 301 816-1023. All performances at the Writer's Center at 4508 Walsh Street in Downtown Bethesda.
