BWW News: Theatre Lab Takes on THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (Final Installment) Image

This is our final installment of our four part V Blog series on The Making of The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts' production of the DC premiere of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The show features a score by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz and a book by Peter Parnell. The production is part of Theatre Lab's Summer Musical Institute. The show runs through July 21st.

Our previous three installments have taken us from the first table read to learning choreography and how to perform stage combat safely to getting totally comfortable with your character so you can make it your own.

This final installment shows the most stressful part of any production. I am speaking of tech week. It's that time in a production where all the lighting, sound and costume elements come together to complete the vision of the director or in this case co-directors Deb Gottesman and Buzz Mauro.

Look for images of lighting designer Marianne Meadows working her magic as well as costumes getting their final touches. Let's not forget about marketing either. Without that, you don't have an audience. It is also the time to add the band to the mix. Up till now it's just been the cast and Buzz playing keyboard solo.

You will also hear from some of the cast as to why Theatre Lab is such a special place for them. Maybe hearing from them will inspire you to sign up for one of their many classes.

Enjoy the final installment of The Making of The Hunchback of Notre Dame!
