On Saturday October 29, 2016 at 5pm in the Great Hall, The Atlas Performing Arts Center will host a presentation of The Every28Hours Plays. Produced by Every28Hours producer, Jeff Kirkman III and curated and directed by Sandra Holloway, Artistic Director of the Atlas' City@Peace program, the event will be performed by City@Peace members and alumni. Following the presentation Holloway will lead an interactive talkback between these artists and the audience.

This E28H happening, supported in partnership with Woolly Mammoth Theater, is part of a national civil rights theater initiative. Joining forces with theaters and universities around the nation this month, Atlas' City@Peace Program, whose roots are in social justice, will give voice to the heartache and the heartbeat that make up the collection of these plays confronting the murdering of black bodies by police and vigilantes.

City@Peace empowers teenagers to create informed, healthy, and vibrant communities. Using the performing arts as a vehicle, City at Peace is developing the next generation of engaged community leaders across the county.

This program steeped in the arts began in Washington D.C. in 1994 and rose as a response to the racial division and violence that destroyed youth and communities in the nation's capital. Teenagers, artists, parents and concerned community leaders came together to address the complex needs of youth and the social concerns of their communities regarding racism and youth violence. Since then they've been a training ground for performing artists where members develop skills in conflict resolution, personal storytelling, empathy, understanding, and leadership, alongside the skills needed for the stage.
