Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen and At-Large Councilmember Elissa Silverman, will work with more than 10 career resources non-profit agencies for the sixth D.C. Career Fair, Friday, October 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mead Center (1101 Sixth St., SW/Waterfront Metro).
In an effort to provide focused, immediately applicable job training and hiring services onsite, this event will require participants to pre-register with one of the partner agencies, thus ensuring increased access to personalized professional development for those seeking job placement.
The two-part event will be broken into job search and interview training workshops in the morning, 9:00 a.m.- noon, followed by an afternoon job fair with hiring organizations, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. The event will commence with remarks by Dobie, Allen and Silverman at 10:00 a.m.

"Arena is pleased to continue this partnership with our city's dedicated councilmembers Silverman and Allen by acting as host for another job fair," shares Arena Stage Executive Producer Edgar Dobie. "It is always encouraging to see so many hiring organizations filling our building, and this year is especially exciting as we offer support for those seeking employment through resume building, job placement resources and interview techniques. Arena is proud to do what we can to help everyone in our community find meaningful employment."
"I'm proud to support the D.C. Career Fair and the excellent work it does to connect Ward 6 residents with good jobs, job training programs, and other employment resources," adds Councilmember Allen. "My office is committed to helping people who are unemployed and underemployed find new opportunities, bringing talented workers together with our local business community to grow a stronger District economy for all."
"I'm so excited to be a partner with our local and regional businesses in the 6th D.C. Career Fair because helping our unemployed and underemployed residents get jobs not only helps our residents, but it helps our businesses and our economy," said Councilmember Elissa Silverman. "I'm also excited about the addition of career workshops to this year's fair, which will help residents get on a career pathway -- and give them the tools to stay on it."
The career resources agencies who will be registering participants and/or holding the day-of workshops, include Academy of Hope, Building Futures, Bread for the City, Community Partnership, Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA), Covenant House, D.C. Department of Employment Services, D.C. Office of Human Rights, Dress for Success, Edgewood Brookland Collaborative, Office of Returning Citizens Affairs (ORCA), Strive D.C. and the University of D.C. Community College.
