Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces single tickets on sale July 31, 2018 for the full 2018/19 season.
This season reflects Arena Stage's commitment to championing diverse voices and producing work that is politically and socially relevant. Earlier this month, the season kicked off with the world-premiere musical comedy Dave, directed by Tina Landau, written by three-time Tony Award winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers), Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin (Mean Girls, Legally Blonde) and Pulitzer Prize and two-time Tony Award winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, If/Then). Dave is currently playing through August 19, 2018.
The 2018/19 season at Arena Stage includes the D.C.-area debut of Turn Me Loose, a powerful and political play about comedian-activist Dick Gregory, written by Gretchen Law and directed by John Gould Rubin; Cole Porter's madcap musical Anything Goes, directed by Molly Smith, with choreography by Parker Esse and music direction by Paul Sportelli; Paula Vogel's Tony Award-winning drama filled with music and dance, Indecent, directed by Eric Rosen; the world-premiere of Kenneth Lin's Kleptocracy directed by Jackson Gay, which puts a spotlight on U.S. - Russia relations; the classic American drama about crushed desires by Ruth and Augustus Goetz and directed by Seema Sueko, The Heiress; Arena Stage's sixth Power Play JQA, written and directed by Aaron Posner, about the relationship America has with its government; Ayad Akhtar's hard-hitting Wall Street drama Junk, directed by Jackie Maxwell; and the world-premiere a cappella musical inspired by the Fisk Jubilee Singers, Jubilee, written and directed by Tazewell Thompson.
