League of Washington Theatres announces Theatre Week Promotion from September 12 - 20, 2009.

Adventure Theatre
Pajama Party for Go, Dog. Go!, Fri, Sept. 18, 7pm. Adapted from P.D. Eastman's much-loved children's story, Go, Dog. Go! is a chaotic carnival of music and physical comedy.  Adults $15; children under 12, $12. FREE MILK & COOKIES.

African Continuum Theatre Company
Play Reading of The Montfort Point Marine by Samm-Art Williams, who will be in attendance.  The play depicts the life of Robert Wilson, a former Montford Point Marine (the first Black American Marines 1942-1949), who fought at Iwo Jima, World War II.  The play begins July 10, 1993 on the 50th anniversary of Robert's enlisting in the Marine Corps, when he is paid a surprise visit at his home in Philadelphia by his son and his ex-wife, whom he loves very much. Mon, Sept. 14 at  8pm at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.  Admission is FREE.

Visit the Penn Quarter Sat, Sept. 12 from 11am to 5pm for this annual arts festival featuring local artists, downtown restaurants sampling their menus, music and entertainment stages. Museum: The Ford's Theatre Museum will be open for visits on Sat, Sept. 12, from 9am to 5pm (final entry is at 4:30pm). Come learn about the presidency of Abraham Lincoln and the events leading up to his assassination.
Make a holiday ornament. In celebration of the annual production of A Christmas Carol returning to the renovated Ford's Theatre, the theatre will have a craft table for children to make their own holiday ornaments at the Penn Quarter's Arts On Foot Festival Sat, Sept. 12 on F & 9th Street (at the Theater Downtown booth).

Kennedy Center
Open House Arts Festival and Stage & Street Spectacular, Sat, Sept. 12 from noon to 7pm kicks off the 2009-2010 season with a celebration highlighting spectacle for the stage and street and the 14th Annual Multicultural Children's Book Festival.

National Theatre
Noon at The National an exciting new arts outreach program designed to foster discussion of the arts and current events.  The inaugural event is an appearance by Washington author John Fenzel discussing his new espionage thriller, The Lazarus Covenant. Fri, Sept. 18 at noon, admission is free, seating is limited. Tickets required and distributed 30 minutes prior to show time, one per person in line, first-come, first-served.
Saturday Morning at The National, a nine-event series, begins with Ace of Hearts Magic. Kids get-into-the-act and help perform zany, jaw-dropping illusions with big, colorful props. Sat, Sept. 19, 9:30am and 11am. Admission is free, seating is limited. Tickets required and distributed 30 minutes prior to show time, one per person in line, first-come, first-served.

Olney Theatre Center
