The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presents Into the Woods, the smash-hit musical that brings together original Tony Award®-winning producers of Into the Woods, the Dodgers with NETworks Presentations (The Phantom of the Opera, War Horse, the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific) to present the celebrated Fiasco Theater production that became New York's surprise hit of the 2015 season. Unanimously acclaimed and extended twice at Roundabout's Laura Pels Theatre, the Tony Award®-winning musical classic by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine has been mounted with boundless imagination. A wild and witty theatrical reinvention like you've never seen it before.
The production makes its Washington, D.C. premiere at the Kennedy Center for four weeks from December 6, 2016 through January 8, 2017 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. The press opening night is Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 8 p.m.
Including featured songs such as "Children Will Listen" and "No One Is Alone," this thrillingly clever new version blends five classic Grimms' fairy tales with an original story of a childless Baker and his Wife, who attempt to reverse a curse on their family in order to have a child. The show features the stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk as it explores what happens after "happily ever after."
Into the Woods runs December 6, 2016 through January 8, 2017 in the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater. Performances are Tuesday through Sundayevenings at 8 p.m. Matinee performances will take place at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $45.
