All of us at BroadwayWorld.com first fell in love with 17-year old Olivia Hardy back in 2011 when she was participating in The Broadway Dreams Foundation. In multiple concerts, directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, she displayed an impressive talent and maturity, well beyond her years.
We fell even more in love with her in 2014, when she portrayed 'Dorothy' and stopped the show (opposite Ken Page), singing in BroadwayWorld.com Visits Oz, our sold out 10th Anniversary Concerts down at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater in New York City (click here to watch that stunning performance).
Now, we are excited to give the entire BroadwayWorld.com readership the same opportunity as we introduce her today as our official 'Teen Correspondent' where she will be reporting for the site, and on social media @BWWFanGirl.
Our newest intern will be helping us bring coverage from a totally new perspective, that of a 17-year-old. Olivia is going into her Senior Year of High School and is in the process of applying to colleges as a theatre lover and aspiring actress.
For her introductory piece, she chose to write about a topic on everyone's minds this week, the death of LES MISERABLES cast member Kyle Jean-Baptiste. As his accidental death became world news, and we and the Broadway community mourned over the weekend and on Tuesday evening with the dimming of the lights at the Imperial Theater, along with the Richard Rodgers Theater and Playhouse Square, Olivia lends her voice to what his astounding accomplishments mean to her, personally.
