In My Life, the Joe Brooks musical that earned a torrent of press for its unconventional story and surreal staging, will end its Broadway run at the Music Box Theatre on December 11th.

The show will have played 23 previews and 61 regular performances at closing; it began previews on September 30th and opened on October 20th. With a book, music and lyrics by Academy Award-winner Joe Brooks, In My Life stars Jessica Boevers and Christopher J. Hanke, respectively, as a woman with Tourettes Syndrome and a man with OCD; the two fall in love and become "unwitting participants in God's first reality opera," according to press notes. Brooks also directs the musical, which features musical staging by Richard Stafford.

Roberta Gumbel, Chiara Navarra, David Turner, Michael J. Farina, Laura Jordan, Roberta Gumbel and Michael Halling are also in the cast of In My Life, which raised the eyebrows of both critics and audiences for a staging that involved a dance with a skeleton, a giant lemon and a Supreme Being who sang jingles about Dr. Pepper and Volkswagon (Brooks has written jingles for many commercials in the past).

Brooks' "You Light Up My Life" is the most successful single record in the history of recorded music, selling more than seven million copies and staying at number one in the county for more than three months; total record sales of albums and singles of the song exceed 15 million. It received the Academy Award for Best Song when it was featured in the film of the same name (also written, produced and directed by Brooks), as well as winning the Grammy, Golden Globe, American Music, and People's Choice awards.  Brooks also composed the music and co-wrote the lyrics for Metropolis: The Musical, which was staged at London's Picadilly Theatre, and is now being readied for a New York premiere next spring to be directed by Richard Foreman.

In My Life's design team comprises set designer Allen Moyer, costume designer Catherine Zuber and lighting designer Christopher Akerlind.

The show's performance schedule is Saturday at
8:00 PM, Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 PM, and Sunday at 3:00 PM. Tickets, which range from $26.25 to $101.25, may be purchased by phoning 212 239 6200 or 800 432 7250.
