Glamour, glitz, and gams galore! You’ll get this and more with 42nd Street, which opens up the 72nd Broadway at Music Circus season. This love letter to Broadway actually didn’t start there. It took over forty years after the film was released to be made into a Broadway musical. It made its debut at the Winter Garden Theatre in 1980 and won the 1981 Tony Award for Best Musical.

There are some standard musical theatre moments that never fail to take my breath away. From the powerful 11th hour “I want” song to a perfectly in sync kick line, certain musical mainstays will simply never get old for me. And one of the best examples of musical nirvana, I believe, is a well-choreographed and expertly executed tap number. Nothing thrills like seeing a group of performers executing the complex and rhythmically entrancing dances that are extremely difficult to master but seem effortless due to the skill and talent of those on stage. So, I was thrilled to have the chance to take in Osceola Arts’ latest production of the classic musical 42ND STREET and I am here to tell you, it did not disappoint. This fantastic production includes some of the finest choreography (and dancing) I have seen on stage here in Central Florida in my four years here and is a fabulous foray into a bygone era of classic movie musicals that provides non-stop entertainment and musical theatre magic in every moment.

For the first time, Britain's new partners in swing have united on record to share their dexterity on a tribute to such truly great songs as 'Ain't Misbehavin,' 'Almost Like Being In Love,' 'Pennies From Heaven' and 'Lullaby Of Broadway.'

Sir Rod Stewart and Jools Holland have released 'Pennies From Heaven,' a special song to mark Valentine's Day. The track is taken from their new album, 'Swing Fever.' The track sees a sensational interpretation of the early American classic written by Arthur Johnston and Johnny Burke.

The Theatre Royal Glasgow has announced that the UK tour of 42nd STREET is coming to the venue from Monday 21 August to Saturday 26 August 2023.

Musical Theatre West will present 42nd Street (February 9-25), Million Dollar Quartet (April 12-28), Newsies (July 12-28) and Ain't Misbehavin' (October 18-November 3) in 2024 season.

Samantha Womack will star as Dorothy Brock, alongside Michael Praed as Julian Marsh, Faye Tozer as Maggie Jones, Les Dennis as Bert Barry and Nicole-Lily Baisden as Peggy Sawyer in the UK tour of 42nd STREET. The production will visit Milton Keynes Theatre 28 August – 02 September. 

The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway Initiative has named Michael James Scott as host of this year’s Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert on Sunday, June 18th from 11:00am – 12:30pm (rain or shine).
