The Fine Arts Center Theatre Company will kick off the holiday season with the American holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.”

Hartford Stage announced today the lineup for the Tony Award-winning theater's 2022/2023 season. Three classics, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, and Alice Childress' Trouble in Mind, will join two new plays.

Buck Creek Players have announced plans to continue their 48th season with It's a Wonderful Life, a live holiday event on their mainstage. Join them for the eight live in-person performances at the playhouse starting Friday, December 10th and running through Sunday, December 19th. Tickets are $18 for adults, and $16 for seniors and students.

Hartford Stage rings in the holiday season with a new production of the perennial holiday film classic, It's a Wonderful Life. In this stage adaptation, Connecticut playwright Joe Landry has refashioned the 1946 Jimmy Stewart movie into a play reminiscent of the Golden Age of Radio.

It's A Wonderful Life is an excellent piece for Town Hall’s new Curator of Artistic Programming, Daniel J. Eslick, to make his debut with Town Hall Theatre. One of Eslick’s goals in curating programming at Town Hall is to reexamine familiar shows like It's A Wonderful Life and add an updated twist. Choosing the radio play over a straightforward adaptation of the 1946 film allows audiences the opportunity to better examine the character of George Bailey and his relationship to his community.

The story in Second Street Players' holiday selection this year will be familiar to many as it presents the stage version of It's a Wonderful Life.

Ophelia's Jump Productions, the non-profit professional theatre company based in Claremont and Upland, announces its show for the holiday season: It's a Wonderful Life (the big tent podcast) 2021. The family-friendly, Covid-safe entertainment will be performed outdoors under a big tent in the parking lot of St. Ambrose Church in Claremont.

Sudeikis will star as George Bailey with his real-life uncle, George Wendt, playing Uncle Billy. Jean Smart, Rosario Dawson, Mark Hamill, Martin Sheen, Mandy Patinkin, Lou Diamond Phillips, Phil Lamarr, Ben Mankiewicz, Ron Funches and Ed Harris will also appear in the reading. The event will be hosted by Tom Bergeron.

American Blues Theater marks its return to live, in-person theater with its 20th Annual Production of It’s a Wonderful Life: Live in Chicago! from Frank Capra’s film and directed by Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside with musical direction by Ensemble Member Michael Mahler.

Perseverance Theatre will present This Wonderful Life by Steve Murray, conceived by Mark Setlock, adapted from the screenplay It's a Wonderful Life by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra, and Jo Swerling. The production is directed by Leslie Ishii and Josh Lowman.

“I love ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’ I love it so much, I’m gonna do it for you all by myself,” the narrator tells the audience at the top of THIS WONDERFUL LIFE. This one-woman play is an adaptation of the classic Christmas film “It’s A Wonderful Life” and Amy White Pridgen brings plenty of enthusiasm and pluck.

On Friday, December 11th, and Saturday, December 12th, The Theater Project put on its annual production of the radio play It's a Wonderful Life a little differently: over Zoom, where actors and audience members participated from the safety of their homes to cap off what was certainly a unique year for the arts. And that wasn't the only different aspect of this year's production.  

Syracuse’s beloved Redhouse Arts Center once again let their creativity shine through as they found a way to still bring a production of the classic Holiday story, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play to virtual viewers.

A timeless story returns to a virtual audience. “It's a Wonderful Life,” the 1946 Frank Capra film starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, has been reimagined by playwright Joe Landry. This beloved American holiday story comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With a small ensemble bringing to life a myriad of characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. 

Thanks to Broadway On Demand and Director Gai Jones the Ojai Art Center Theater presents “It's A Wonderful Life A Live Radio Play” Saturday, December 12 at 7 pm through Saturday, December 19 at midnight. This unique streaming production comes as OACT's first show since the pandemic caused them to cancel the second play in their 2020 season.
