A struggling quartet, The Plaids, is on their way to their big break when their car is hit by a bus and all four are killed instantly. By some cosmic mystery, however, they’re allowed to come back to earth to do that show just one time.

Overshadowed Theatrical Productions opens FOREVER PLAID this week on Friday, September 13th at 7:30pm in Medinah, Illinois. The opening performance will also feature a Q&A session with the cast immediately following.

Stuart Ross’ 1989 jukebox homage to boy bands of the 1950’s is a pleasant whiff of nostalgia sure to remove you from the stress of today’s less naïve and chaotic present. Forever Plaid follows The Plaids, a youthful quartet with stardom in their eyes killed in a car accident in 1964. Like the baseball players in Field of Dreams, they return to perform one final concert and we’re here to bear witness.

 Act II Playhouse has announced its latest production, “Forever Plaid”, the beloved musical by Stuart Ross. 

The actors have wonderful interactions with one another and with the audience, and their comedy chops are highlighted well. The actors have good voices and there are moments of nice harmonies and solo work. Unfortunately, the show is disappointing due to some major pitch problems that even impacted the melody line at times.

On Saturday, March 2nd, I had the pleasure of seeing another phenomenal performance put on by the Castle Craig Players at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse in Meriden, CT, FOREVER PLAID, a comedic jukebox musical written by Stuart Ross. Director Melanie Del Sole, with help from musical director Nick Ciasullo and choreographer Stephen Koehler bring out the best in this amazing cast featuring Henry Tobelman, Stephen Koehler, Jeffrey Rizzo and Brandon Gregoire, accompanied by David Marottolo on piano. The show reflects the music of the male 1950s harmony groups, placing it into a highly entertaining storyline! The actors have incredible stage chemistry with each other, and amazing vocal harmony. Their dance maneuvers are performed with sharp synchronicity. Most importantly, it is clear that they are having an excellent time performing their roles, radiating positive energy throughout the audience.

Act II Playhouse has announced its 2023-2024 season celebrating 25 years in Ambler.

Plaza's Broadway Long Island, Nassau County's Only Professional Theatre in residence at the State-of-the Art Elmont Library Theatre, has announced the cast and creative team for their upcoming production of FOREVER PLAID, written and originally directed and choreographed by Stuart Ross with musical continuity supervison and arrangements by James Raitt.

Collaborators Lauren Gundrum and Brandon Lambert are set to premiere their debut musical, I Love My Family, But…, at Soho Playhouse from February 23–April 8, 2023.

The winners have been announced for the 2022 BroadwayWorld San Antonio Awards, honoring the best in regional productions, touring shows, and more which had their first performance between October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.

Forever Plaid is an Off-Broadway Musical Revue that was first performed in 1989 in New York, and was written by Stuart Ross. Now the show is performed Internationally. The show itself featured Stan Chandler, Guy Stroman, Gabriel Barre, and Jason Graae in the 1989 New York Cast. While James Raitt was responsible for the Musical arrangement, vocal arrangements and music direction, the show was Directed and Choreographed by its writer Stuart Ross. The Musical Revue was produced into a feature film, which was released in 2009 starring two of the original cast members (Chandler, and Engel)and Larry Raben and Daniel Reichard as Sparky and Frankie respectively. Fans of the show will notice that in the film adaptation, “The Golden Cardigan,” and “Catch a Falling Star,” were omitted.

On the way to their gig, tragedy strikes Forever Plaid, a “guy group” specializing in barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies. Forever Plaid begins when the guys are given the chance to perform from the afterlife.

Southwest Florida's Gulf Coast Symphony will be hosting open auditions for the 2022-2023 season. Auditions will take place for Snowbird Follies, The Thing About Men, Forever Plaid, Gypsy, and Nunsense.
