Vermont Stage has announced its 2012-13 season will include the following shows:

Boom

by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb

directed by Cristina Alicea

October 3-21, 2012

As an undiscovered comet hurtles towards earth, a lone scientist takes it upon himself to preserve the human race by locking himself and his unsuspecting date in his biology lab-turned-fallout shelter. In this outrageous existential comedy, Boom pokes a bit of fun at the precariousness of our nature while embracing our resiliency. Directed by VSC's Artistic Director Cristina Alicea, this play begins the countdown to the end of the Mayan Calendar. Heck, it may very well be the last play you ever see!

Winter Tales

conceived and directed by Mark Nash

December 5-9, 2012

Mark Nash and Patti Casey are back again to continue this Vermont Stage holiday tradition, with fresh stories and songs to lighten up the dark days of winter.

Time Stands Still

by Donald Margulies

directed by Gregory Ramos

Jan 30-Feb 17, 2013

A photojournalist who captures images of the Iraqi war, returns home injured from her most recent foray into the fray.  As she and her reporter partner try to put their lives back together, they are confronted with the decision to return to the battlefield or to settle down, leaving behind the dangerous and chaotic life they have always loved.  From Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, Time Stands Still is a witty drama that discusses the sacrifices people are willing to make for their passions, their country, and their own well-being.

4000 Miles

by Amy Herzog

 directed by Michael Dove

March 13-31, 2013

After a summer long, cross-country bike trip, Leo shows up at his grandmother's front door exhausted, dirty, and looking for a place to stay for the night. The night turns into days - then weeks - as they argue, laugh, and find comfort in each other's company. Discovering that despite the generational gap, they are not so different after all. Winner of the 2012 Obie for Best New American Play.

Good People

by David Lindsay-Abaire

directed by Tara Lee Downs

April 24-May 12, 2013

Why does opportunity knock for some, while others can't catch a break?  And where's the line between kindness and selfishness? Those questions loom large in this thought-provoking play about two teenage sweethearts who reconnect after 30 years.  Mike is a doctor with a lovely home in an upscale neighborhood, and Margaret is an out of work single mom whose teen pregnancy led to dropping out of high school, and scraping by ever since. Their common humble roots and now radically different lives spark a fascinating, funny, and honest exploration of the ways in which class, race, luck, goodness, and the choices that we make can shape our lives.

The 2nd Annual DIRECTING BAKE OFF

June 10-16, 2013

Have you ever wondered what a director brings to the process of making a play?

In June, Vermont Stage Company will produce 1 play but divide it into 3 parts, with 3 different directors, and 3 different casts to explore the wildly different ways a play can be brought to life for an audience. Each performance will be followed by a Q & A with the directors. The play and directors are TBA.
