Bourne replaced the traditional female dancers with a menacing male ensemble, creating a striking new context for the age-old story. The result is a breath-taking production that has won more than 30 international theater awards. And it's all steeped in the glorious, famous music of Tchaikovsky.
Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake is the longest-running ballet ever to have played on Broadway or in London's West End.
This performance was filmed in HD at Sadler's Wells in 2011, and is being shown in theaters all over the world. Middlebury's Town Hall Theater will show Swan Lake on Thursday, September 13 at 7 pm. Tickets are $15, with a special student price of only $8. They can be purchased at 802 382-9222, on-line at www.townhalltheater.org, at the THT Box Office (Noon- 5 pm, Mon-Sat) or at the door.
