Night Fires, Theatre Group Ltd's much-loved winter solstice celebration comes to Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on December 15 through 17.
This year's performance brings to musical life an old tale from sub-arctic lands: The White Bear King Valemon. The story is told through astonishing and wild-hearted music from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Siberia, the Altai Mountains, with a bit of k.d. lang thrown in. As always, Night Fires is an amusing, mysterious, magical journey into the "dark" for the rebirthing of life at this deeply sunless time of year.
Abigail Nessen Bengson and Shaun McClain Bengson once again bring their passions and marvelous musical skills to the show. They are joined by a cast of twelve more Night Fires familiars, richly costumed and ready to weave a grand tale and make a most rich and joyful noise. The production is directed by Night Fires founder, Marianne Lust.
Performances at Town Hall Theater are Thursday, December 15 through Saturday, December 17 at 8:00 pm, with a Saturday matinee at 4:00 pm. Tickets, $20 General/$18 Seniors/$15 Students, are available by calling 802-382-9222, at www.townhalltheater.org, or at the box office Monday-Saturday, noon – 5:00 pm.
