"It's kind of a dream for a lot of people – to sing the great hits of the 40's and 50's in front of a real big band," says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. "That's what the MIDDLEBURY DOES series is all about."
Every year Town Hall Theater gives talented local people a chance to sing with musicians. Beginning with MIDDLEBURY DOES MOTOWN, the series has grown to include MIDDLEBURY DOES WOODSTOCK, MIDDLEBURY DOES THE HISTORY OF ROCK & ROLL and MIDDLEBURY DOES SOUL.
"There are so many terrific singers in this area," says Anderson. "We get them on stage with professional musicians and they blow the roof off the place. " Singing in MIDDLEBURY DOES SWING will be Debby Anderson, Debbie Brisson, Tony Cacciatore, Liz Cleveland, Leigh Guptill, Susannah McGee, Tony Panella and Nathaniel Rothrock.
THT's big floor will open open for dancing, but there will also be plenty of seating for those who just want to sit and listen to a great concert. A cash bar and snacks will be available.
MIDDLEBURY DOES SWING happens on Friday, May 11, at 8 pm at Town Hall Theater. Tickets are $12/$6 for students and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 382-9222, at the THT box office (noon-5 pm, Mon-Sat) or at the door.
