The Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra is on its very first United States tour, and KCP Presents will bring the 80-piece orchestra to Lyndon Institute on February 13th at 7pm. The show will be the first time since 1979 that an entire symphony has performed locally.

Established in 1956 along with the construction of the famous Shanghai Opera House, the Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra is renowned for its interpretation of classical symphony repertoire, performing the masterpieces of the world's most historic composers.

The Lyndonville program will include Rossini's Il Barbiere de Siviglia - Overture, Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major, Opus 35 and Dvorak's New World Symphony (Symphony No. 9 in E Minor Op. 95).

The Orchestra has been conducted by renowned maestros such as Daniel Oren, Lorin Maazel, John Nelson, Thomas Sanderling, Markus Stenz, Zoltan Kocsis, Maurice Peress and Jan Latham-Koenig. The Orchestra has toured to Finland, Italy, UK, Germany, Hong Kong and Macao. This 2019 USA tour will be the Shanghai Opera Symphony's debut at the concert halls of North America.

To maximize accessibility to this historic event, KCP Presents is offering a Buy One, Get One 50% Off ticket special, and thanks to support from Passumpsic Savings Bank, students attend free. "Eighty musicians in a 600-seat theatre," says KCP Presents founder Jay Craven. "It'll blow your mind. And you get to welcome artists from China on their first ever US tour."
