The Victorians celebrated Christmas by welcoming one and all into one's home during the Holidays to share in a drink, raise a toast to friendships and successes, and participate in holiday songs and stories. In this spirit, Sandglass Theater cordially invites everyone to stop by and join in the fun, and to take in in some wild seasonal entertainment. "The punch is on us!" says Artistic Director Eric Bass. Raise a toast to celebrate family, neighbors, and the warmth of community as these wintery months settle in.
This year's entertainment will include:
"Ballad of the Ice Shanty", an excerpt from Sandglass' newest work "All Weather Ballads." Fishermen pull their fishing shacks out onto the frozen lake with roaring snowmobiles. In the end, the ice melts, and not everything survives.
"St. George and the Dragon," a wild romp of ‘Potato Theater' entertainment in which all the puppets are made from vegetables and all the weapons are kitchen utensils. Based on the classic Christmas Play for Mummers and Toy Theater.
"The Nativity," a non-denominational telling of the Christmas miracle, performed with Ines' exquisitely crafted shadow figures. Both humorous and tender, this parlor style shadow play draws the audience into a delicate world of shadow and light.
At the end of the entertainment, please join us for some Christmas punch to celebrate the Holidays.
