Four decades into a legendary Met career, tenor Plácido Domingo makes history singing the title role in Verdi's gripping political thriller, Simon Boccanegra. The opera will be broadcast live in high definition at Town Hall Theater, Middlebury on Saturday, February 6.

While Boccanegra is a baritone role, the 69-year-old Domingo gives a "noble performance [which] establishes Boccanegra as one of those rare roles where stature transcends voice type." (New York Times) Adrianne Pieczonka, Marcello Giordani, and James Morris are his co-stars in this moving and tragic story of a father and his lost daughter.

Simon Boccanegra will be broadcast Live in HD from the Metropolitan Opera at Town Hall Theater, Middlebury on Saturday, February 6 at 1 pm. Tickets, $22, are available through the THT Box Office by calling 802-382-9222, online at www.townhalltheater.org, or in person on Merchants Row, Middlebury (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm)
