Saint Michael's Playhouse announces the August 1 opening of Philip King's classic British farce See How They Run. "In times like these we can all use a couple hours of non-stop laughter and See How They Run offers exactly that. Audience members laugh heartily from beginning to end at the hilarious hijinks and madcap mayhem of this perfectly written British farce," said Chuck Tobin, Producing Artistic Director, Saint Michael's Playhouse. This is the grand finale of our 71st season," Tobin continued, "and it's British comedy at its finest." Opening Wednesday August 1, 2018, evening performances are August 1 - 4, 7 - 11 (8pm), with matinee performances August 4 and 11 (2pm).

In a small, tightly-knit English village a plot of mishaps and mistaken identities causes the action to spiral out of control. Involving an American actress, a cockney maid, a dashing soldier, a village gossip, a Russian spy, and a bevy of bishops, deacons, and vicars See How They Run is a tour-de-force comedy not to be missed.

Opening in London in January 1945, See How They Run provided the perfect escapist entertainment during Britain's darkest hour. While the lights were going out in Europe they defiantly remained on in London's West End during the world premiere of this mad-cap comedy.

The Mousetrap features Clare Mahoney as Penelope Toop, Tyler Nye as Reverend Lionel Toop, Amanda Ryan Paige as Miss Skillon, Gregory Jon Phelps as Clive Winton, Lilly Tobin as Ida, Kordell Pritchard as the Intruder, Kenneth Kimmins as The Bishop of Lax, Bill Carmichael as Reverend Arthur Humphrey, Zachary Gibson as Sergeant Towers.

See How They Run is directed by Catherine Doherty, director of last season's crowd-pleaser You Can't Take It With You. The creative team includes John Paul Devlin (scenic and lighting design), Renee Baker (costume design), Joel Abbott (sound design), and Jacob Foster (property design).

Saint Michael's Playhouse is an Actors' Equity Association theater company in Vermont that produces its productions with theater artists from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional theater nationwide, along with a stellar pool of Vermont-based professional actors. Actors' Equity Association is the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States. Tobin adds "We rehearse our shows right here in our theater and design and build our scenery, costumes and props on location with our crew of approximately 70 theater artists."

Single ticket prices range from $36 to $45. The Playhouse is located at McCarthy Arts Center, on Route 15, in Colchester, Vermont, a ten minute drive from downtown Burlington, Vermont.
