Pregnancy Pact will be the final work in the Weston Playhouse Theatre Company's MainStage season.

Loosely based on the Time Magazine article about a group of teenage girls who were suspected of forming a pact to become single mothers together, Pregnancy Pact is about some truly unforgettable young women seeking love, growing up, and discovering a sense of self in today's often-confusing world. Their tale is set to the beat of a hard-hitting and tuneful pop-rock score. And true to Weston's mission to create new exciting works, Pregnancy Pact is a musical for the 21st century. Boasting a complex yet memorable score and a truly authentic voice, Pregnancy Pact is in-your-face edgy in all the right ways.

With book and lyrics by Gordon Leary and music by Julia Meinwald, Weston is honored to produce its world premiere production. It appears on the company's MainStage, running from August 30 through September 8. Pregnancy Pact was the winner of Weston's 2010 new musical award, and was chosen for the National Alliance of Musical Theatre's 2011 Festival of New Musicals.

The production is directed by Joe Calarco, who is best known for his adaptation/direction of Shakespeare's R&J which ran for a year Off-Broadway – becoming the longest running version of Romeo and Juliet in New York history – and earned him a Lucille Lortel Award. Calarco has also directed numerous critically acclaimed new musicals, including The Burn Part BoysThe Toymaker, and Elegies.

The cast of Pregnancy Pact features a great deal of young Broadway talent, including Krystina Alabado, Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Caitlin Kinnunen, Lauren Marcus, Jed Resnick, Margo Seibert, and Dana Steingold. The creative team is comprised of Music Director Rich Silverstein, Scenic Designer Tim Mackabee, Lighting Designer Joel Shier, Costume Designer Jen Caprio, Sound Designer Ed Chapman, and Production Stage Manager Jess Johnston. The production will also feature a dynamic corps of musicians, with Anthony Rubbo on guitar, Lorenzo Wolff on bass, Sean Hagerty on violin, Ro Rowan on cello, and Jeremy Yaddaw on drums.

Tickets for Pregnancy Pact start at $25. For additional information and to reserve seats, call The Playhouse box office at 802-824-5288 or visit the theatre's website at westonplayhouse.org.
