The Middlebury Community Players' extravaganza of a fall musical, OLIVER!, hits the Town Hall Theater stage on Thursday, November 6 for nine performances over two weekends.

The beloved musical, set in Charles Dickens' gritty 19th century London, includes such hits as "Where is Love," "Consider Yourself," and "You've Got To Pick a Pocket or Two." The show follows the rags to riches journey of an orphan from workhouse to adventures with a band of pickpockets to happy ending, with many stops along the way.

Set Designer Adam Ginsberg has planned four levels of acting space to help the audience follow Oliver's journey through London. Kendra Gratton's energetic choreography includes orphans dancing over and under tables while clutching bowls of porridge. Music Director Susanne Peck leads show-stopping numbers, such as the famous "Who Will Buy." Director Cathy Palmer directs 46 talented local performers, including 28 (count 'em, 28) kids in this enormous MCP production.

There are several family members among the cast and crew, with father and son Tom and Oscar Williams in the roles of the Artful Dodger and Oliver as just one example. Other cast members include Tanya Kurtz Lehman as Nancy, Kevin Commins as Fagin, Christopher Ross as Bill Sykes, and Joe McVeigh as Mr. Bumble.

OLIVER! opens on Thursday, November 6th, with a 7:30 curtain.

Tickets, $23 adults, $18 children, and $15 all seats for Thursdays only, are available at the Town Hall Theater Box Office: 802-382-9222; www.townhalltheater.org, or in person Monday - Saturday, noon-5 pm.
