Northern Stage to Open 17th Season with TWELVE ANGRY MEN, 10/2-20

Twelve Angry Men, written by Reginald Rose and adapted for the stage by Sherman L. Sergel, directed by Malcolm Morrison, runs live on stage at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction, VT, from October 2-20, 2013. This award-winning drama was first written in 1954 for a live television performance on the CBS Studio One series. Northern Stage's production features a multi-racial cast with the original 1950s text. One of the leading actors in the production, Jamie Horton, has extensive film and television credits, most recently Steven Spielberg's Lincoln.

Performances are Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m., with Thursday 2:00 p.m. matinees on October 10 and 17. The show is sponsored by Stave Puzzles, Sabil & Sons Transportation and LaValley Building Supply.

Twelve Angry Men marks the beginning of Northern Stage's 17th season in White River Junction, and the first under the leadership of Artistic Director Carol Dunne. The season continues with Yasmina Reza's comedy God of Carnage (October 30 - November 17) and the holiday musicAl White Christmas (December 4-31), set in a Vermont inn. The second half of the season brings The Fox on the Fairway (February 5-23), a new play by Ken Ludwig, author of Northern Stage favorites Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo. Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People (March 5-23), starring Northern Stage's producing director Catherine Doherty, takes a down-on-her-luck Southie woman on an unforgettable journey, and the season wraps with the six-person musicalThe Spitfire Grill (April 2 - May 4).

Northern Stage is a regional non-profit professional theater that seeks to entertain, challenge and involve its audiences with ambitious productions. Based in the Upper Valley of the Connecticut River, Northern Stage brings national and area talent together on an intimate stage in diverse classic, contemporary, and new plays and musicals.

One of only four independent theaters in the nation that is at least 40 miles from an urban center, exceeds $750,000 in annual ticket revenue, and produces a season of seven months or more, Northern Stage has offered over 100 productions in its sixteen year history, and annual attendance is now over 30,000.
