Middlebury Community Players presents the family classic musical "Annie," based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, at Town Hall Theater, March 22 – April 1.

During the Great Depression in New York City, "a plucky red-haired scrapper named Annie is the voice of hope for her fellow orphans, who live under the supervision of the drunken floozy Miss Hannigan.  When Annie is selected to spend two weeks at the home of Wall Street tycoon Oliver Warbucks, her spirit and enthusiasm are contagious, winning over his staff and the entire country.  Warbucks is so smitten with Annie that he offers to adopt her, but she wants nothing more in life than to find her real parents.  Greatness never comes without trial:  Warbucks offers a $50,000 reward for anyone who can prove they are Annie's real parents, which leads to an attempted kidnapping and, of course, a happy ending."

"Annie" is directed by Bristol's Justin Bouvier, with musical direction by Serena Eddy and choreography by Tina Coleman.  Performances are March 22 – 24, and March 29 – 31 at 7:00 pm, with matinees on March 24, 25, and April 1 at 2:00 pm.  Tickets, $20, are available through the THT Box Office by calling 802-382-9222, at www.townhalltheater.org, or in person Monday – Saturday from noon – 5:00 pm.
