Three dedicated directors take six hilarious plays and nine delightful actors and shake them up for 26 days to produce SUMMER SHORTS, an evening of six miniature theatrical confections guaranteed to satisfy the appetite for a summer evening of roguery and fun.

Middlebury Actors Workshop established their reputation as a locally grown, professional company with short-form theater beginning in 2001. This summer they are back with six entirely new, extremely funny and unusual plays, all dealing with relationships and the things that happen when we act just a little naughty, as humans tend to do.

In Boise, Idaho, by Sean Michael Welch, a couple in a local café find their lives being narrated by a mysterious stranger, with life changing results.

In The Scary Question, by Wayne S. Rawley, a young man struggles to pop a question to his girlfriend, and that question catches her more than a little off guard!

Zombie Funeral, by local playwright Haley Rice, plays with the idea of what might happen at this most unlikely event. As pervasive as Zombies are in our modern cultural life, we just couldn't resist joining in the fun.

The Proposal, by Paul Siemens, is a modern adaptation of Chekhov's comic masterpiece--a hilarious look at one nervous young man's attempt at a marriage proposal.

Parenting advice goes out the window in Night Rules, by Billy Aronson, when two couples debate the merits of allowing their children into their beds.

Finally, the evening wraps up with a poignant look at the arc of a marriage in Post Its: Notes on a Marriage, by Paul Dooley & Winnie Holzman.

Escape the ordinary.... Escape the routine.... Escape the Zombie's!

MAW's SUMMER SHORTS runs June 26 - 29 at Town Hall Theater. Curtain at 8:00 pm Thursday - Saturday, and 7:00 pm on Sunday, with a 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday. For tickets, contact the THT Box Office at 802-382-9222 or www.townhalltheater.org.
