MARJORIE PRIME Gets Reading as Part of MAW's 'Cutting Edge' Series

Middlebury Actors Workshop will present Marjorie Prime by JorDan Harrison, first up in "The Cutting Edge," an Off-Broadway play reading series, on Sunday, September 10 at 4pm in the Town Hall Theater Byers Studio.

MARJORIE PRIME, by JorDan Harrison is a 2015 Pulitzer Prize Finalist and the inspiration for a new feature film starring John Hamm, Lois Smith, Tim Robbins and Geena Davis.

It's the age of Artificial Intelligence, and 85-year-old Marjorie - a jumble of disparate, fading memories - has a handsome new companion who looks like her deceased husband and is programmed to feed the story of her life back to her. What would we remember, and what would we forget, if given the chance? In this richly spare, wondrous new play, JorDan Harrison explores the mysteries of human identity and the limits - if any - of what technology can replace.

Marjorie Prime is directed by Rebecca Strum and features actors Mary Adams-Smith, Mark Nash, Kathryn Blume and MacArthur Stine. Discussion will follow the reading for those interested.
