One evening, 37 Shakespeare plays, and hundreds of belly laughs. That's The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), in a rollicking production by Montpelier's superb Lost Nation Theater, October 15-17 at Town Hall Theater.

Lost Nation Theater, who last year brought us the profoundly moving Judevine, consistently draws sell-out crowds in the capital city. This production is directed by Lost Nation's founder and Artistic Director Kim Bent.

Three actors and a prop mistress on roller-skates take audiences through all 37 plays, plus sonnets thrown in for good measure, in 90+ free-for-all minutes, making mincemeat of the beloved Bard. Improvisation, audience participation, pop culture, and local references are in store. Among the highlights: Titus Andronicus as a cooking show, Othello turned into a rap fest, the Histories turned into a football game, and the fastest, funniest, Hamlet you will ever see.

This play "embodies one of comedy's most essential impulses: the adolescent urge to take a baseball bat to the culturally revered...the gung-ho vitality is impossible to resist." declared the New York Times of the original Broadway production.

If you like Shakespeare - you'll love this show and revel in the clever twists and inside jokes. If you hate Shakespeare - you'll LOVE this show reveling in the skewering and satire. And even if you don't know anything about Shakespeare, you'll still love this show!

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare comes to THT Thursday-Saturday, October 15-17, at 8:00 pm. Tickets, $20, are available through the THT Box Office by calling 802-382-9222, online at www.townhalltheater.org, or in person Monday-Saturday noon-5 pm.
